  2. Chia seeds: Chia seeds, a member of the mint family, have been cultivated in Central and South America for decades. This nutrient-dense superfood can be consumed raw or cooked. Chia seeds are rich in B vitamins, protein, and other essential minerals and gluten-free. You can use chia seeds in many ways. For one, chia seeds can be used as toppings for cereal and yogurt. The gel made from chia seeds when soaked can be used as a partial replacement for wheat and rye in bread recipes for they provide good texture and work well in low-carb and nutrient-dense recipes. Yogurt is made with two essential ingredients, milk and a suitable culture. You can buy ready-to-use cultures and learn how to keep them going for future batches of yogurt.
