The Age of the Robot will mean massive job losses and perpetual social unrest: Retrain yourself now to remain valuable

(Bugout.news) The ex-CEO of McDonald’s Corp. has a dire message for America and other developed nations: The Age of Robotics will negatively impact employment here and around the world, and there isn’t anything anyone can do about it at this point.

As reported by Britain’s Independent:

A former McDonald’s CEO warned that robots will take over staff jobs at the fast food empire – because it’s cheaper than employing humans.

Ed Rensi has said that buying highly skilled robotics is a cheaper alternative than employing people on minimum wage to work in the company’s worldwide restaurants.

He warned that huge job losses are imminent, and commented that it would be ‘common sense’ to replace humans in the workplace.

This comes as a study into the future of human employment has predicted a surge in machine-led work such as robotic counsellors, body part makers and virtual lawyers.

Those of you who have stood on a protest line demanding $15 an hour for a $6 an hour job – or those of you who have supported such ridiculous wage demands – are about to reap what you have sown. The bottom line is that a company’s bottom line has always been, and will always be, a company’s primary concern. And they will achieve profitability as well as the best returns for investors (as they are legally obligated to do), in any way possible.

If that means buying robots that don’t bitch, don’t call in sick to work (ever, for any reason), don’t complain about having to work a little overtime, don’t require outsized, overpriced, Obamacare-inflated insurance, don’t accrue or demand “benefits,” don’t steal and don’t fight on premises, then that’s what they’ll do. In fact, as Rensi says, that day is fast approaching at this point, even if the #FightFor15 movement were to disappear overnight (which it won’t).

“It’s cheaper to buy a $35,000 robotic arm than it is to hire an employee who’s inefficient making $15 (£10.20) an hour bagging French fries,” Rensi said.

“It’s nonsense and it’s very destructive and it’s inflationary and it’s going to cause a job loss across this country like you’re not going to believe,” he continued. “It’s not just going to be in the fast food business. Franchising is the best business model in the United States.

“It’s dependent on people that have low job skills that have to grow. Well if you can’t get people a reasonable wage, you’re going to get machines to do the work,” he said.

“It’s just common sense. It’s going to happen whether you like it or not. And the more you push this it’s going to happen faster.”

Meanwhile, self-interested parties like unions (whose member wages are tied to the minimum wage) will continue to fan these flames of unrest no matter how high they get. They’d rather burn down the system than work to find a way to improve the situation or adapt to the coming tsunami of job losses.

What will this unrest look like? What form will it take?

For starters, Just think about what happened the other night in Albuquerque, New Mexico at a political rally led by GOP presidential contender Donald Trump. Riots, all because a small group of agitators don’t like some of his political positions. But the rioting did not take place in downtown Los Angeles or Chicago, they took place in New Mexico! If rioting and unrest can happen in underpopulated, sleepy New Mexico, just think of what major urban centers will turn into: Boiling cauldrons of violence and perpetual unrest, as millions act out their frustrations at not being able to find a job at any wage, let along an artificially inflated “minimum” wage.

There are two things people with a disposable skillset should be doing right now: Learning a trade that cannot be readily replaced by a machine; and preparing your butts off for the massive unrest that is fast approaching.

That means stockpiling food and supplies, of course, but it also means preparing physically, mentally – getting in better shape, more target practice, learning how to fight, close-combat skills, etc. Practicing actions you hope you’ll never have to take but are very likely going to be faced with when the massive job losses begin.

You can bet the authorities are already making their plans. They aren’t stupid. They know what this robotic revolution will do to the labor force – like when machines began replacing humans in factories during the Industrial Revolution. They are preparing too.

We have all been told what is coming. We’ve just been given the clearest warning yet of what is in store for us in the not-too-distant future. Only the foolish will ignore something this obvious.
